Sprint Cup Series at Kansas Speedway, MLRA at Lakeside, car shows and car cruises. Kansas City car events for October 1, 2, 3

Are car people going to be busy in Kansas City this weekend? You better believe it.

On the car show side of things, the big GladFest parade and car show will be held on Sunday, the Iron Misfits Car Club is holding their big shindig on Saturday, and the final Downtown Blue Springs Cruise of the year is Saturday night.

This is also the biggest racing weekend of the year, with Kansas Speedway holding the NASCAR Nationwide Series on Saturday, and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on Sunday. Because the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series are in Kansas City, this is the biggest racing weekend of the year in our area. But if you want to see the best races in town, look beyond the big track, and check out the MLRA Late Models at Lakeside Speedway. These are some of the best races you will ever see, and they only show up on the 3/8-mile clay oval once a year. And don’t be surprised if some of your favorite NASCAR stars show up, like Clint Bowyer, who loves to get back to his Lakeside roots.

Friday, October 1-Saturday, October 2. Kansas City, Kan. The Clyde Ellis MLRA Late Model Showdown and Modified Shootout. If you like racing at all, this show is highly recommended. Lakeside Speedway, 5616 Walcott Dr, 66109. For more information, call (913) 299-2040 or visit http://www.lakesidespeedway.net/.

Friday, October 1. Kansas City, Mo. Friday Night Grudge Racing. Kansas City International Raceway, 8201 S Noland Road, 64138. For more information, call (816) 358-6700, or visit http://www.kcironline.com/.

And Kansas Speedway has gotten better in recent years, providing more action and less follow the leader type racing.

Meanwhile, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has the weekend off.

  1. Thanks for listing our 10/2/10 car show. We had a great turnout and the weather wasn't too bad either. Lone Jack students did a great job helping out today, so a big thanks to all of them and to all who participated in our 3rd annual show.
