Mecum, Man Cave, and Modifieds. The Kansas City car show, cruise, and racing schedule for March 30 - April 1 2012

The automotive events and races are starting to trickle in a little more each week. Before long, we’ll have a full-blown schedule!

A must-attend is the Mecum Collector Car Auction, which will be held in Bartle Hall Thursday through Sunday. You could buy a car there if you were so-inclined, but even if you don’t, it is one of the best car shows in town.

See the entire lineup of car shows, cruises, and local auto racing, plus the NASCAR schedule from Martinsville, in the calendar below.

NASCAR on the tee-vee

When it comes to NASCAR, California is always kind of a bore. Tony Stewart won an uneventful, rain-shortened race there last week. Jimmie Johnson’s car started smoking bad when the red came out, so he dodged a major bullet and finished tenth, after getting his points penalties from Daytona overturned earlier in the week.

Now they’re off to Martinsville, which is a lil’ ol’ short track that typically produces much better racing. Plus, the trucks are back in action, which always adds a little excitement to the program. The Nationwide Series is off this week.

Saturday, March 31. Martinsville, Va. NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Kroger 250. Martinsville Speedway. 12:00 noon (c/t). SPEED TV.

Sunday, April 1. Martinsville, Va. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Goody’s Fast Relief 500. Martinsville Speedway. 11:30 a.m. (c/t). Fox Television.
