Art of the Car and a bunch of cruises in this weekend's Kansas City car show, car cruise, and car racing calendar for June 22, 23, 24 2012

Sounds like it’s going to be hot and sunny this weekend in Kansas City. That’s perfect weather to go to a local car show and work on your tan.

One of the biggest events of the year is the Art of the Car Concours at the Kansas City Art Institute. They really come up with some amazing cars at that one. My dad’s ’61 Corvette was actually selected as one of the participants this year, so I’ll be there pretty much all day Sunday babysitting his car with him.

Of course, if you want a more casual car show atmosphere, there are several great cruises and shows all over Kansas City. Just make sure to bring the sun screen.

The entire calendar of Kansas City car shows, car cruises, and car races, plus this weekend’s NASCAR schedule, is listed below.

NASCAR on TV

Well, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. finally broke his four-year losing streak last week at Michigan. Junior Nation is exultant. Now they’re off to the road course in Sonoma for something completely different. Road course races are tough to watch in person, but they can be sort of entertaining on TV. At least it’s something different than watching them chase each other around a mile-and-a-half oval for four hours. Meanwhile, the Nationwide Series will be on a different road course this weekend at Road America.

Saturday, June 23. Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. NASCAR Nationwide Series Sargento 200. Road America. 2:00 p.m. (c/t). ESPN.

Sunday, June 24. Sonoma, Calif. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Toyota/Save Mart 350. Infineon Raceway. 1:00 p.m. (c/t). TNT Television.

  1. As always, a great write up. Re. Art of the Car Concours, Yes, it will be hot but many of the buildings will be open for you to cool off in. Also, there are a LOT of shade trees so don't let the predicted temps keep you away. Craig, I'll be seeing you at your dad's Corvette.
