Kansas City car shows, car cruises, and car races for July 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 2012

Wednesday is Independence Day, and there are lots of great flag-waving car events throughout the week.

This is one of the busiest Wednesday calendars ever, with car shows from Raymore to Topeka. You have the day off anyway. Might as well do some car stuff—right?!

The weekend is just as busy, with a full schedule of local cruises and car shows, plus the highly anticipated annual fireworks show at Lakeside Speedway after the races. Or, if the heat is too much for you, watch a little Daytona on your television.

NASCAR on TV

I’ll admit that the 2012 NASCAR season has been a bit of a snoozer so far, but there is always an extra jolt of excitement when they head to Daytona in July. There’s just something about them being under the lights, racing bumper-to-bumper in the heat of the summer that seems to bring out just a little more craziness. Brad Keselowski won a really boring race in Kentucky last week. Here’s hoping for a little more at the birthplace of speed.

Friday, July 6. Daytona Beach, Fla. NASCAR Nationwide Series Subway Jalapeno 250. Daytona International Speedway. 6:00 p.m. (c/t). ESPN.

Saturday, July 7. Daytona Beach, Fla. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Coke Zero 400. Daytona International Speedway. 5:30 p.m. (c/t) TNT Television.
