Wheels & Dreams Car Show in Shawnee, Kan., had nearly 300 cars under sun-drenched skies. Story and photos!

The fifth installment of the Wheels & Dreams Car Show rolled into downtown Shawnee, Kan., over the weekend, and it is fast becoming one of the must-attend car events in the area.

Shawnee blocked off the city streets to accommodate some 300 cars, trucks, and motorcycles. And when you get a group that big, you’re bound to see some nice ones that don’t turn up anywhere else. Plus, it didn’t hurt that the weather was perfect—mid/upper-‘70s, low humidity, copious sunshine. This was the kind of day car show promoters pray for.

The Wheels & Dreams event wasn’t a cruise, it was an actual car show for which participants had to pay to enter a car. Most people weren’t complaining, though, because proceeds went to Shawnee Safe Home for families in need.

Music and entertainment for this event was provided by Mix 93.3 FM D.J. Steve Serrano, and there were all kinds of great door prizes, goody bags, and drawings. The grand prize winner received $500.

This is another one where my support staff was on hand to handle the photography and show updates while I was at another event up north. And by “support staff,” I mean my mom & dad. Between this and the Turkey Creek show in Merriam, they were really clickin’ off the pictures. I appreciate them doing that for me, if for no other reason that I get to see some of the great cars that were out there myself.

Of course, I’m not going to keep them to myself. With the magic of the Internet slideshow, I can present them to anyone who visits this website. In fact, that’s just what we’ll do right now. Take a look below to see the sights from the Fifth-Annual Wheels & Dreams Car Show.
