Belton, Tongie, Liberty, and KC. Here's your list of Kansas City car shows, car cruises, and car races for Memorial day weekend, May 27, 28, 29, 30

Memorial Day weekend is traditionally one of the biggest motorsports weekends of the year. Of course, that traditionally stems around the historic Indy 500, but the Coca-Cola 600 is a pretty big event for the NASCAR boys as well.

Still, you don’t have to leave Kansas City to see some great racing action this weekend. Circle tracks like Lakeside and Valley Speedways will be kickin’ up some rooster tails, while KCIR and Heartland Park will be serving up the drag racing.

Meanwhile, there are several car shows and cruises that look like fun. Both Liberty and Belton have huge cruises on Saturday night, and in honor of Memorial Day, there will be some nice vintage military vehicles on display at the Liberty Memorial.

In summary, there is no shortage of car shows, cruises, and races to attend this weekend. But as always, make sure you call or check ahead, especially if weather could be an issue.

NASCAR and IndyCar on TV

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series runs their longest race of the season this weekend with the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte, but on Memorial Day weekend, it’s all about the Centennial running of the Indianapolis 500. Just between the two series, you can watch 1,100 miles of action, and that doesn’t include the support events. Better fire up the Crock Pot, because you’re going to need a lot of Ro*Tel dip to get through all this.

Saturday, May 29. Concord, N.C. NASCAR Nationwide Series Top Gear 300. Charlotte Motor Speedway. 1:30 p.m. ABC Television.

Sunday, May 30. Concord, N.C. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Coca-Cola 600. Charlotte Motor Speedway. 5:00 p.m. Fox Television.

Sunday, May 30. Speedway, Indiana. IZOD IndyCar Series’ 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500. Indianapolis Motor Speedway. 11:00 a.m. ABC Television.
