From Belton to Liberty, and all points in between, the Kansas City car show, car cruise, and car racing schedule for April 27, 28, 29, 2012

Well it’s not like there isn’t anything to do this weekend. You can find huge cruises in Liberty and Belton, Weston and Overland Park. There are so many places to go look at old cars, you might get sick of them. OK, not really. But you can see a lot of them around town.

Meanwhile, check out the races at Lakeside or I-35 Speedways, or one of the many other great tracks around town. You got a taste of racing last week at Kansas Speedway—now it’s time for some real racing.

Need a little more inspiration? Check out the entire Kansas City-area car show, car cruise, and car racing schedule below.

NASCAR on TV

Fresh off the big NASCAR weekend in Kansas City, the stars and cars of the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series’ move on to the short track of Richmond International Raceway. Will these be as easy to attend live? Not if you live in Kansas City. Will the races have more action? Likely. You usually get more excitement when all the cars are on a tight track than you do on a 1.5-miler. Tune in and see what you think.

Of course, these are night races, so I wouldn’t encourage you to watch them live. Record them on your DVR, support one of your local short tracks or car cruises, and play them back later without the commercials.

Friday, April 27. Richmond, Va. NASCAR Nationwide Series Virginia 529 College Savings 250. Richmond International Raceway. 6:00 p.m. (c/t). ESPN2.

Saturday, April 28. Richmond, Va. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series 400. Richmond International Raceway. 6:00 p.m. (c/t). FOX Television.

  1. Craig:
Thanks for all the "heads-up" on these events...

Imust admit to a fondness for BARRETT-JACKSON...lots of cool classics on THERE.

And that picture of that dark red 1940 Ford Coupe...that is SUH-WEET!

(It's the EXACT SAME color as my 1/43 diecast...LOL)

    Happy Motoring.

  2. Thanks, Bob! I'm glad you're here checking out the blog!

That definitely looks like a '40 Ford, especially in that shot, but it is actually a '40 Mercury. It's a really nice car, too--you see it at some of the car cruises around here sometimes. Some of the easy ways to spot a Merc over a Ford are the rear wheel wells, the more formal top, and the grille.
