There was a time when Cadillacs did not compete with cars like Mercedes and BMW. They had rivals like Lincoln and Packard. But even among their peer group, they stood alone. If you bought the best watch or refrigerator or lawn mower money could buy, someone would call it “the Cadillac of lawn mowers.” That’s because Cadillacs were the best, both in perception and reality. They were the most luxurious. They were the most technologically advanced. They were the most stylish. And in many cases, they were the biggest.

2013 Cadillac XTS AWD Platinum test drive review. Living the life
Back in 2010, I was present for the reveal of the Cadillac XTS Concept at the North American International Auto Show. At the time, I thought it was the prettiest Cadillac I had seen in the past 15 years. But I never really expected the eventual production version to look as nice, or have such beautiful appointments. Cadillac recently loaned me the keys to a genuine, road-going 2013 XTS Platinum AWD for a week, and I’m here to tell you, it is just as impressive as the concept.

Cadillac introduces the 2013 XTS, as we look back at the history of the Cadillac DeVille
Last year, I had the opportunity to watch the unveiling of the beautiful new Cadillac XTS Concept Car at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This week, Cadillac introduced the production version of the XTS at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The new 2013 XTS is meant to be Cadillac’s new flagship, filling the void left when the STS and the DTS were discontinued. And, since the STS was a rear-wheel-drive, and the DTS was a front-wheel-drive, everyone can be happy because the new XTS is an all-wheel-drive.
