Better late than never for the North Ridge Church Car Show

I know I’ve been neglecting my writing duties here lately. Things have been busy, and I’m sorry to say that when I have a little time to write something, I’ve just been too lazy to do it. Take the North Ridge Church Car Show. I was at this thing all the way back on October 27, so I’ve been sitting on the pictures for over two months. It was a pretty decent little car show, too, so there really isn’t any excuse for my not getting this done. I actually drove the truck to White House to participate in this one. It was a cool, overcast day, but actually perfect for an event like this. Here are some of the show cars that caught my eye.

22nd-Annual AACA Wilson Bank Spring Meet in Mt. Juliet

The Spring Meet of the Middle Tennessee Region AACA at the Wilson County Bank in Mt. Juliet is one of my favorite shows of the year. As a whole, the quality of vehicles they get at this one is way up there. They’re not just neat cars; they’re exceptionally nice cars as well. This is not really a hot rod show. Factory-correct presentation dominates this field. And there are things here that you normally don’t get to see. They have 53 classes, so if you can’t find something you like in this bunch, you probably don’t like old cars.

2014 Hazzard Run brings The Dukes of Hazzard to life

Yee haw! As a car chase-loving boy growing up in the ‘80s, The Dukes of Hazzard was one of the greatest TV shows in the history of the world. I still watch the show today with my own son, and it still brings back some nice memories. And I’m not alone. There are still die-hard Dukes fanatics out there. Some are even more into it than me, including the ones participating in the Hazzard Run over the weekend. These guys and gals gathered behind Cooter’s Place in Nashville with their very own General Lees and Hazzard Sheriff’s cars, and caravanned down to Cooter’s Place in Gatlinburg. There. They met up with actual cast members from the show. It seemed like a good time to me, so we got up early Saturday morning to see them off.

Beautiful Sunday at the JDRF Advance Auto Parts Car Show in Shawnee

It seems like there aren’t as many organized car shows on Sundays, but there was a look one last weekend at the new Advance Auto Parts store in western Shawnee.  This was a benefit for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and they did their cause proud with a parking lot that was overflowing with shiny machines.  It was a great opportunity to get out and enjoy the perfect weather, check out some great cars, and maybe even pick up a case of oil or a pine tree air freshener.

The attack of General Lee

I admit it.  I have an irrational, juvenile love for The Dukes of Hazzard.  I still clearly remember the day when I was six-years-old that my dad was watching the pilot episode on our RCA TV.  I just couldn’t believe that they actually had a show like this, with wall-to-wall car chases, that I was allowed to watch.

2012 Dodge Charger test drive review. Would Bo and Luke approve?

I was actually kind of excited to try out a new Dodge Charger for a couple of days. I’ve driven several Chrysler products on the LX platform over the past couple of years, but only for short jaunts. And as someone who uses a ’96 Impala SS as a daily driver, I was looking forward to testing out a modern, full-sized, rear-wheel-drive sedan on my commute.

As new Chargers go, this one was about as bland as they come. Of course, even as a base model, the Charger comes with a nice array of features. 17-inch, five-spoke wheels are standard, as is the touch-screen stereo with CD and mp3 connector. The silver paint didn’t do much to spice things up though.
