Rain didn't ruin the Redneck Rumble

Twice a year, the Redneck Rumble rides into the Wilson County Fairgrounds in Lebanon. This year, the two-day event had to deal with not only rain, but several other big car shows in town. I entered my truck on Saturday, and even though attendance was obviously lighter than normal, there were still quite a few things to look at. I’ve been at this show in the rain before, and history has proven that rat rod and patina guys don’t mind a little wet weather. There’s also a swap meet at this show that typically offers up some interesting automotive treasures. This isn’t your usual ’69 Camaro resto-mod-style show. It’s different, which is part of what makes it interesting.

Trunk-or-Treat at the Mt. Juliet Chick-fil-A Cruise

Mt. Juliet was a scary place last Saturday night when the annual Trunk-or-Treat Car Cruise rolled into the Chick-fil-A parking lot. Vintage cars were mixed with scary costumes for a fun night of candy and chicken. This was the first time since we moved here that the old HMC truck was able to wear its Halloween costume (Tow Mater, every year, of course), but there were lots of other great cars and trucks to check out along the way. Here were a few of my favorites.

Well, it's Halloween.  Not exactly the best time for car shows, but if you want a fun-sized bag of Whoppers, you're probably in luck.  Of course, if you're here, you probably like cars better than candy, so we need to do something about that.  But Halloween isn't about COPO Camaros or Deuce Coupes.  This is a creepy holiday, and you want to know about creepy cars.  That's why we're taking our annual look at the creepiest cars of them all.  Cars that are specifically built to haul dead bodies around.  You know them.  You love them.  Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the history of the hearse.

For car enthusiasts in the Midwest, Halloween is a scary time of year. This is the weekend where you begin to realize that you won’t be driving your pride and joy much longer, lest you expose it to the evil effects of snow and road salt.

Speaking of scary cars, I would hate to throw a story out here without a little automotive history, so here we go. The first motorized hearses appeared in the U.S. in about 1909, although horse-drawn carriages were still preferred.
