They say lots of people watch the Super Bowl just for the commercials. And then there's the car nuts, who just watch for the car commercials. Well, this is for you.
Here are some of the funniest, most creative car ads that will air on the 2011 Super Bowl. Heck, you don't even have to watch the game to see these if you don't want--they're right here!
Volkswagen's "The Force"
This is the car commercial that probably has the most buzz around it this year. It's just simple and funny. I don't know how much it tells you about the car, other than it has a remote start, but still, how can you not like it--especially if you're a parent?! Besides, everything's a little cooler when Darth Vader gets involved.
Chevrolet Camaro "Transformers"
In case you didn't know it, there's a new Transformers movie coming out soon. And what better way to let people know, than running a Super Bowl ad. This is actually a Chevrolet image spot, and it sort of pokes fun at the local dealer ad genre. Still, I think I want to buy a Camaro.
Chevrolet Camaro "Miss. Evelyn"
They're really pushing the Camaro this year. This one has everything you could ever want--car chase action, beautiful women, even an Advanced Design GMC stake bed truck. If the Transformers one didn't do it, this one has me completely convinced that I need a Camaro.
Kia Optima "Epic"
This one looks like it had the budget of a major motion picture. Lots of CGI in this baby. I don't know how Epic any Kia can be, but they made it look pretty desirable in the ad.
Mercedes-Benz "Welcome to the Family"
You know I love nostalgia, so I think it's pretty cool that they used all the Mercedes of the past in this ad for the latest German status symbols. But how'd P-Diddy get in there?
Hyundai "Sheeple"
Hyundai is making fun of Toyota buyers because Toyota makes boring, ugly cars. I guess I can't really argue with that point, but if you really don't want a boring, ugly car, see the Camaro commercial above.
Chevrolet Cruze Eco "Misunderstanding"
Chevrolet wants to get one point across and one point only. 42-miles-per-gallon. Did you catch that?
Audi "Head of Riot Suppression"
This is really the only one that they didn't just give us the whole ad beforehand. It's hard to even know this is for Audi, but I have been told that it is. Guess we'll find out tonight.
Chevrolet Silverado "Tommy"
This one is a cute little takeoff on the old Lassie show. The ever-faithful Silverado comes home and alerts the parents about all kinds of trouble little Tommy is getting into, then they go save him. Well, I thought it was funny.
Chrysler 200 "Imported From Detroit"
You know I'm all about seeing American car companies succeed, so this one's pretty inspirational. And that's even when you figure that Chrysler is owned by an Italian company now. eminem brings the magic of 8-Mile back in a two minute TV commercial.
So there you have it. The CARMMERCIALS of Super Bowl XLV. By the time you get to the big game, you'll be watching reruns!
Gee, I was hoping that you might post one of the thirty 'Glee' commercials.
