Cops and rodders. The Kansas City car show, car cruise, and car racing schedule for July 1, 2, 3, 4

If you like cars, you should be able to spend some of the long Independence Day weekend doing something fun around the Kansas City area.

Police car owners will be converging in town for a national get-together and car show this weekend. There are several car shows and parades that you can check out. And there will be several race tracks in the area that will feature a fireworks show in addition to the on-track action.

There are a few indoor activities as well. The July stop for the NASCAR circus at Daytona is always one of the best of the year, and you can see Camaros and other GM vehicles save the world when Transformers: Dark of the Moon opens this week.

Here’s the complete list of Kansas City car shows, cruises, and events for this weekend. And as usual, call ahead if rain (or even worse, flooding) may be an issue.

NASCAR on Television

The annual 400-miler under the lights in Daytona for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is a Fourth of July weekend tradition. And after last weekend’s demolition derby in Sonoma, everyone seems to be good and mad at each other, which should result in fireworks on the track as well as in the sky. The Nationwide Series is also running at Daytona, while the Camping World Trucks have the weekend off.  For more information, visit http://www.nascar.com/.

Friday, July 1. Daytona, Fla. NASCAR Nationwide Series Subway Jalapeno 250. Daytona International Speedway. 6:30 p.m. ESPN TV.

Saturday, July 2. Daytona, Fla. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Coke Zero 400. Daytona International Speedway. 6:30 p.m. TNT TV.
