If you are in Kansas City, there are tons of car things to do this weekend.

Head to Topeka for some NHRA drag racing. Cruise over to Basehor for a fun, laid-back car show in the park. Check out the radical works in progress at the Tallant’s Hot Rod Shop Open House.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. How about the cruise Saturday night in Platte City? Or maybe your tastes run toward the dirt tracks at Lakeside and I-35 Speedways. Like big cars? The Cadillac Club will be at the City Market on Sunday. Like small cars? There will be a micro and mini car show in Westwood.

Televised NASCAR and NHRA

We’ve got some pretty high-profile racing events within a short drive of Kansas City this weekend. The NHRA Summer Nationals are a blast, and you can go see them in person at Heartland Park. If you’ve never seen NHRA’s top series live, you will be in for a real treat.

Or, take a little longer drive north, and you can see the NASCAR Nationwide Series running at the Rusty Wallace-designed oval in Iowa.

Meanwhile, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will be holding the non-points, no-holds-barred All-Star event in Charlotte.
