Kansas City car shows, car cruises, and car races for September 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 2012

We keep clicking off the car events as we head into the fall, but there are still a few good ones to check out before Old Man Winter checks in.

One of the bigger events in this area will be the Basehor-Linwood High School car show, which always seems to pack ‘em in. You also might want to check out the weekly cruise in Independence, or Cars in the Park at Shawnee Mission Park. Wherever you decide to go, there will be some great cars and trucks to look at, and no doubt several owners who would be more than happy to tell you all about them.

The entire Kansas City-area car show, car cruise, and car racing schedule, plus the NASCAR TV schedule from Dover and Las Vegas, is listed below.

NASCAR on TV

Well, we’re in the heat of the NASCAR playoffs, although Denny Hamlin’s win last weekend in Loudon was so boring I don’t know if “heat” is the right word. Anyway, they move on to Dover this week, which has to be better, because it rhymes with “Hover.” Jimmie Johnson enters the weekend with a narrow lead via his two second-place finishes so far in the Chase, but he’s usually pretty good at Dover, so he no doubt plans to extend that advantage.

Saturday, September 29. Dover, Del. NASCAR Nationwide Series OneMain Financial 200. Dover International Speedway. 2:00 p.m. (c/t). ESPN2.

Saturday, September 29. Las Vegas, Nev. NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Smith’s 350. Las Vegas Motor Speedway. 7:00 p.m. (c/t). SPEED.

Sunday, September 30. Dover, Del. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series AAA 400. Dover International Speedway. 12:00 noon (c/t). ESPN.
