May North Kansas City car cruise kicks off 2nd Saturdays events

Saturday night, North Kansas City kicked off their "2nd Saturdays" events for the summer with their monthly car cruise, art show, and jazz music.

The NKC cruise has been pretty popular over the years, often bringing in cars from all over the Metro. And the parking area across the street from the North Kansas City Pro Bowl has been a big car locale over the years, hosting events like the annual Shriner's car show and the C.A.R.B. Snake Saturday race car show.

Saturday night certainly didn't have a record turnout, but considering the cold and overcast conditions, it was respectable. There were a number of nice hot rods, muscle cars, and customs to look at, including the dazzling Pro Street Nova/Firebird combo from the Northland's own Tallant's Auto Body.

The NKC cruise is also unique in that well-known radio personality Phil Jay spins the Beach Boys records. He's a familiar voice around Kansas City, having been on many oldies radio programs, and narrating the Stax of Wax show at World's of Fun for several years.

As the name implies, the "2nd Saturdays" cruise in North Kansas City is scheduled to take place on the second Saturday of each month, all Summer, through September 10. And there's no doubt that the chilly weather will not plague this event in the future, so expect the car count to grow exponentially.

In the meantime, I'm including the usual slideshow to whet your appetite. And, as a nice bonus, I'm also posting my seven-year-old son BHo's photo gallery. Even my wife says she likes his pictures better than mine, so at least you'll get something worthwhile out of this.
